Tiger Bar Roars: NBA Ikeja Branch Condemns VIP Barricades at AGC Unbarred Party in Enugu
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch, famously known as the “Tiger Bar,” has come out swinging against the national leadership of the Association over what it described as a “segregatory act” at the just-concluded Annual General Conference (AGC) in Enugu.
At its monthly meeting held on September 8, 2025, the Branch unanimously passed a motion condemning the decision of the NBA leadership to mount VIP barricades manned by bouncers during the highly anticipated Unbarred party. The barricades, which created a restricted section at the front of the stage, separated lawyers from what was termed a VIP zone.
The motion, moved by former Branch Secretary, Adeyemi Abijo, Esq., drew a unanimous support from members who said the practice was alien to the culture of the Bar.
Abijo Esq described the barricades as “a strange, and demeaning against lawyers, who are the very owners of the Association.”
The Tiger Bar resolved to reject the introduction of any form of barricade against lawyers at future NBA events, stressing that such divisive practices insult the dignity of members.
