A Nigerian Lawyer and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Toluwatope Alex Ojo Esq has advocated for for an end to using analogue stamp and seal to weed out fake lawyers in the legal profession.

TIME TO END THE STAMP & SEAL REGIME FOR A MORE VIBRANT BAR

To effectively weed out fakes, NBA needs to devise chip cards for lawyers, to enable us clock into courts for appearance in proceedings. This digitalized appearance will end the current analogue.

In ending the current Stamp and Seal regime, the NBA can diversify to keep or increase the revenue flow:

1. By introducing Bar Practice Cards for filing of processes, and taking a percentage from the filing fees, or by annual billing of the Card Account.

2. By creating a registration portal for transactional agreements, etc, to which clients will pay the regulated charges, and from where lawyers get paid for the transactions done, while the NBA keeps a percentage of the fees paid.

Lawyers are blessed with ideas on how to improve the Bar, and I believe many have a lot of workable suggestions that can permanently restore the prestige of this Profession.

Just thinking digital.
