Tinubu, Kwankwaso’s Ally Jibrin Meet Again In Abuja

President Bola Tinubu met with Abdulmumin Jibrin, a close ally of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, on Sunday night.

The meeting, held at the State House in Abuja, lasted two hours, from 9 pm to 11 pm, marking the second time in two weeks that the duo had met.

While presidency sources told TheCable that discussions may have centred on Tinubu’s relationship with Kwankwaso and growing anti-All Progressives Congress (APC) sentiments in parts of northern Nigeria, Jibrin declined to give details when approached by State House correspondents.

Jibrin had met Tinubu at the same venue, after which he told journalists that the talks focused on national unity and development.

When asked during the July meeting if the discussions were linked to possible defection to the APC, the former lawmaker gave a cryptic response, “Everything is open, and everything is a possibility. The most important thing is the stability of the country and its unity. I believe that when we get to the bridge, we’ll cross it.”

The engagement came days after Kwankwaso alleged that the South is being favoured in terms of infrastructure and development under the current administration.
