Tinubu Unveils Major Road Project in Cross River: A Boost for Agriculture and Trade

President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the construction of the 23-kilometre Ikom Etomi-Agbokim Waterfalls Road in Cross River State, a project valued in billions of naira. This infrastructure development is set to significantly improve the transportation of agricultural goods, particularly cocoa, from the rural areas to urban centres.

During the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Ajuwa Daniel, the Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), urged the contractors—Faith Plant Services and Rhema Vision—to ensure the road is built to the highest standards. He emphasized the importance of maintaining project integrity, calling for the protection of construction equipment from potential vandalism by criminals. Dr. Daniel also appealed to the communities of Ikom, Etomi, and Agbokim to treat the road project as a shared responsibility and safeguard its progress.

The road project is expected to bring substantial economic benefits to the region, facilitating the easier transport of agricultural produce and promoting trade.

Senator John Owan-Enoh, the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, praised President Tinubu’s visionary leadership. He highlighted the President’s broader infrastructure goals, including the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a project that promises to link key economic zones across Nigeria. Senator Owan-Enoh commended the President’s efforts, saying, “Under Tinubu’s leadership, we are seeing major projects that reflect big dreams for Nigeria’s future.”
