Tinubu’s Vision Is Lost in Translation – And His Cabinet’s to Blame
Malik Ado-Ibrahim, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has criticized the composition of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, urging the Nigerian leader to overhaul his team and bring in more capable administrators.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Ado-Ibrahim argued that Tinubu’s inability to translate his policies into effective action stems from the quality of personnel in his cabinet.
“In my opinion, most of what the president has, as far as his cabinet is concerned, should be refreshed. They’re done,” he stated bluntly.
The YPP chieftain stressed that leadership is not just about having a vision, but also about choosing the right people to carry it out. According to him, the president needs more than just figureheads—he needs qualified administrators who can implement strategic plans.
“It’s not enough to say, ‘You’re a health minister, go do healthy stuff.’ You need someone who can run a system, who understands administration,” he explained.
Ado-Ibrahim emphasized that leadership should be about humility and openness to better ideas, noting that smarter and more capable individuals are available to help move Nigeria forward.
“There’s no knowledge anyone has that others don’t. There are smarter people than I am. I just have an opinion—but that opinion is: yes, the cabinet needs to be freshened up to build public confidence,” he said.
His remarks come amid growing public concern over the performance of some key members of the Tinubu administration, just over a year into its tenure.
