Tragedy Strikes: 19 Killed in Horrifying Road Accident in Plateau State
A devastating road accident in the Kwana Maciji area of Pankshin Local Government Area, Plateau State, has claimed the lives of 19 people and left 11 others injured. The victims were on their way back to Kano State after attending a wedding in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area when the tragedy struck.
John Dasar, the Chairman of the Pankshin Local Government Area Emergency Management Committee, confirmed the tragic incident. He explained that the accident occurred on Saturday when the vehicle, traveling from Kano, crashed and subsequently caught fire.
“The travelers were returning from a wedding ceremony in Barkin Ladi and had chosen the Gindiri-Bauchi route as a shorter way home,” Dasar said. “Unfortunately, their vehicle was involved in a crash, and while efforts were being made to rescue the passengers, the vehicle caught fire, trapping the victims inside.”
The fire completely engulfed the vehicle, and 19 passengers were tragically burned beyond recognition. Only the driver and a few others survived the horrific accident.
Dasar expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life, adding that the injured passengers were quickly transported to Pankshin General Hospital for treatment. They are currently receiving medical care, while the community grapples with the devastating aftermath of the accident.
