The crash occurred when a trailer, loaded with cows and passengers atop, lost control and separated from its main body, tumbling onto a pavement. In the driver’s attempt to avoid the woman, he lost control, causing the trailer to detach and crash.
The aftermath of the accident was grim, with nine fatalities and 21 others suffering varying degrees of injury. The injured victims were immediately transported to the Primary Healthcare Center in Kaita for initial treatment, with some requiring further medical care and being referred to Katsina General Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina.
Ma’aji took the opportunity to issue a stern warning to drivers, advising against carrying animals along with passengers due to the inherent dangers of such reckless practices. He also urged passengers to speak out against overloading and dangerous driving, emphasizing that these actions are crucial in preventing future accidents and reducing fatalities on the road.
The tragedy in Dankama has highlighted the importance of safer driving practices and the need for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations in the region.
