Tragic Accident in Ore: Four Killed, Including Three Policemen, in Collision with Trailer

Four people, including three policemen and a female suspect, lost their lives in a tragic accident in Ore, a commercial town in Ondo State’s Odigbo council area. The fatal crash occurred when a speeding trailer collided with the police vehicle carrying the detectives and the suspect.

The police officers were part of a special monitoring team from the state police command. They had traveled from Akure, the state capital, to arrest the female suspect when the unfortunate incident took place. Eyewitnesses revealed that the trailer, descending the Ore bridge from the Ijebu-Ode direction, suddenly lost control. The truck veered across the median and crashed into the police vehicle.

The crash killed the three police detectives and the female suspect instantly, while another police officer sustained severe injuries. The injured officer was promptly rushed to a private hospital in Ore for medical treatment.

Funmi Odunlami, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, expressing her condolences and calling it an unfortunate tragedy. Samuel Ibitoye, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), attributed the accident to excessive speeding by the trailer driver.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the state hospital morgue in Ore for further processing.
