Tragic Incident in Lagos: Two Workers Die After Falling Into Diesel Reservoir

Two factory workers have tragically lost their lives after being rescued from a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos State on Saturday morning. The victims had been working on repairs to the reservoir when the incident occurred around 10 am.

According to the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the workers fell into the diesel tank while performing their duties. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the workers fell accidentally into the reservoir, and his colleague plunged in while attempting to rescue him.

Emergency teams from LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service responded quickly to the distress calls. The victims were retrieved from the tank and rushed to the hospital after initial medical aid was administered. Unfortunately, despite extensive medical efforts, both men were later confirmed dead at the hospital.

Oke-Osanyintolu conveyed his condolences, stating, “The two male adults, earlier rescued this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, despite all sustained medical efforts later died.”

The operations have now concluded, and no further updates are expected on the matter at this time.
