Two Fake Pastors Arrested in Rivers for Possession of Fetish Items

The Police Command in Rivers State has arrested two individuals suspected of posing as pastors while in possession of fetish items in the Rumuduru community of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended by residents and handed over to the authorities on January 20.

Rivers Police Nab Suspected Fake Pastors with Spiritual Materials

In a statement released on Friday, Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko revealed that the two suspects operated separate churches within the community. The arrests were made after a group of local youths, led by their President Henry Worlu, raided the area and apprehended the suspects from their respective churches.

During questioning, one of the suspects, Bassey, admitted to using various spiritual items such as water and oil to “heal” individuals with spiritual afflictions. He further confessed to using a small casket and a “miracle life oil” to treat people suffering from mental health issues, claiming they would recover within three months. Bassey had been living and operating in Rumuduru for 17 years.

Fake Pastors in Rivers Found with Firearms and Ritual Items, Police Say

The police recovered a number of suspicious items from the suspects, including a firearm cartridge, small wooden caskets, a sword, a fake Nigerian Navy identification card, thousands of photographs, children’s footwear, a police lanyard, and various crosses and spiritual materials. The suspects, along with the recovered items, are now in police custody as a discreet investigation continues.
