Udom Emmanuel Denies Reacting to Governor Umo Eno’s Political Speculations
The immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, CON, has deliberately remained silent on recent political developments in the state, including rumors suggesting Governor Umo Eno’s possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This stance is consistent with Emmanuel’s long-held principle of allowing his successor, Governor Umo Eno, the autonomy to govern without interference.
In a statement released by his Media Assistant, Barrister Stephen Abia, the public was advised to disregard a report from an obscure online platform that falsely claimed Emmanuel had commented on the alleged defection.
“His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, handed over the reins of government to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, and has since returned to his private engagements,” the statement emphasized.
“It is clear that he is keeping to his word by staying out of state affairs and permitting the governor to lead Akwa Ibom forward.”
The statement further challenged anyone alleging that Emmanuel had given a recent interview to provide verifiable evidence such as audio or video recordings.
