We will not kill any initiative that will turn Nigeria around, says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has assured Nigerians that the National Assembly will back any initiative aimed at positively transforming the nation.

Speaking on Wednesday during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2025 budget presentation, Akpabio highlighted the importance of the four tax reform bills, describing them as a monumental shift in revenue generation for the country.

He, however, expressed concern that critics who have neither seen nor read the bills are the ones raising the most objections.

Akpabio emphasised that the National Assembly would consider the views of Nigerians, thoroughly review the proposals, and ensure the bills align with the aspirations of the people.

He also urged President Tinubu to direct ministers and heads of agencies to personally defend their budget estimates before the parliament.

Reflecting on the nation’s progress, Akpabio noted: “We have witnessed remarkable strides in economic growth.”
