Wike: “Of Course I’m Leading Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign — Stop Acting Surprised”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared his intention to lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.

Speaking on Monday in Abuja, Wike left no room for doubt about his political allegiance and role in the upcoming presidential race. When asked directly if he would lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in the next election, the former Rivers State governor was emphatic.

“I’ve said this before. Is it because I’m in Asiwaju’s presidency that you’re asking?” Wike responded. “You already know I will lead his campaign in Rivers State. Why ask what you already know?”

Wike took a swipe at the opposition’s performance in the FCT during the 2023 elections, noting that President Tinubu secured less than 10 percent of the vote in the capital. But he promised that would change in the next election.

“He didn’t get up to 10 percent here in FCT, but he will win here. Are you not aware?” he said confidently.

He also reaffirmed his support for power remaining in the South, saying, “Because I have said the South must produce the president.”

Wike’s statement cements his position as a key political player in Tinubu’s administration, despite his background as a prominent figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
