Wike Responds to Fubara’s ‘Red Biro’ Threats: ‘I’ve Been Using Mine for 14 Years
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to the recent threats by Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, who vowed to continue using his “red biro” to defeat his enemies. Wike humorously reminded Fubara that he has been wielding the same “red biro” for the past 14 years, suggesting that Fubara’s boasts were less significant.
Fubara made his declaration during the New Year’s Eve church service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Opobo Town, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, where he promised that the red biro would continue to crush his opponents. “The red biro is still filled. It is still here with me. Every enemy plan will continue to crash,” Fubara declared.
However, Wike, speaking through his media aide Lere Olayinka, quickly pointed out that Fubara had only been using his red biro for a mere two years, in contrast to Wike’s own experience. Olayinka took to X (formerly Twitter) to mock Fubara’s claims, saying, “Someone who has only used the red biro for less than two years is somewhere reminding himself and boasting that ‘The red biro is still filled. It is still here with me.’ Issokay.”
He further added, “Shouldn’t he also be reminded that someone has used the same red biro for 14 years and is still using it?”
Wike’s response serves as a pointed reminder that his political experience far exceeds Fubara’s, with his own “red biro” having a much longer history of use in the political arena.
