A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his recent attacks on former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.
The feud ignited when Odili praised the current Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, for preventing Wike from turning the state into his personal domain. Wike, in response during a Special Thanksgiving Service organized by the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, called Odili an “ingrate” and “rent seeker.”
Frank, the former APC official, didn’t hold back in condemning Wike’s behavior, calling it another display of his habitual betrayal of friends and allies. In a statement, he remarked, “Wike’s attack on Odili highlights his tendency to turn former allies into enemies, showcasing his unreliability and political unpredictability.”
This latest outburst, Frank argues, is just one in a long series of betrayals. He reminded Nigerians of Wike’s past disloyalty toward ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, who helped him secure his position as Minister of Education and Governor of Rivers State. He also pointed to Wike’s political machinations against his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, despite benefiting from his patronage.
In the 2023 elections, Wike formed a controversial alliance against his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contributing to the party’s loss of the presidency. His continued efforts to destabilize the PDP and orchestrate crises in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Frank, only further highlight his treacherous political behavior.
“What better evidence of treachery do we need from a man who is both a member of the PDP and a minister in an APC administration?” Frank concluded, questioning Wike’s loyalties.
