Yobe Assembly announces date for 2025 budget presentation
The Yobe State House of Assembly has received a letter requesting the House’s permission for the presentation of the 2025 budget proposal by the state governor, Mai Mala Buni.
The Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio, read the letter on the floor of the House while opening the plenary session after a three-week recess for attending the parliamentary Commonwealth conference in Tanzania and other committee functions.
Mashio said the governor will present the budget on Thursday, October 2024, at 11:00 AM in the chambers of the House.
The Speaker called on members of the House to give the Governor all the necessary support and cooperation for the successful presentation of the budget.
In another development, the House has received the names of nominees Umar Hassan Babayo and Suleiman Abubakar Bakura for confirmation as chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board and the Internal Revenue Service for the first term of four years.
The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, moved the motion seeking the confirmation of the nominees on the floor of the House, which was presented by the executive arm of government.
Hon Yusuf said the nominees were appointed in accordance with Section 12 of the State Universal Basic Education Board and Internal Revenue Service Law.
The House has committed the names of the nominees to its standing committees on Basic Education and Finance and Appropriation for screening.
