Yobe Police Kill 3 Armed Robbers in Gunfight, Recover Locally-Made Pistol

The Yobe State police command has successfully neutralized three armed robbers involved in a violent robbery attack on the Ngalda market, seizing a locally-made pistol in the process. According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the robbers were killed during an intense exchange of gunfire with police officers.

While three members of the gang escaped with serious injuries, the police managed to arrest the gang’s leader, identified as Alhaji Dadji, a native of Ngalda. The robbery, which took place on Monday, led to the tragic loss of seven lives, while 11 others sustained injuries. The robbers also made off with a substantial sum of N16.5 million.

The bodies of the deceased, along with the injured victims, have been transferred to Fika General Hospital for medical care and forensic examination.

In response to the attack, Yobe State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has ordered a full-scale investigation to locate the remaining members of the gang. He also called on the public to stay calm and provide any helpful information that could assist in tracking down the fugitives.

The police command has extended condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to ensure that those responsible for the crime are brought to justice.
