Yusuf Linked to N3B Scam, Arrested by ICPC

Adam Imam Yusuf, a Deputy Commandant with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State, has been arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of diverting over N3 billion in public funds.

Yusuf, who had been evading arrest, was apprehended at his residence in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The ICPC’s investigation uncovered that the fraud was orchestrated by former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (retired), with Yusuf and retired Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum implicated in the scheme.

The fraud involved the use of 92 fictitious companies that were not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The diverted funds were traced to entities such as Lahab Integrated and Gate Coast Properties, among others. These funds were allegedly used to acquire over 18 properties, including filling stations.

As of now, four of these properties have been forfeited to the federal government, and legal proceedings are underway to recover the remaining assets. The ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, confirmed the commission’s efforts to apprehend other suspects still at large.

The ICPC has reiterated its commitment to fighting corruption, especially when it involves high-ranking officials, and ensuring accountability in public office.
