Popular Activist and former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ikeja Branch, Adesina Ogunlana has asked the former President of the Nigerian Court of Appeal Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa rtd to confirm or refute the admission of interference by her husband while she was in office.
Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa was reported to have made a statement on the floor of the Nigerian Senate, where he admitted to influencing his wife, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, a retired Justice of the Appeal Court, to help her colleagues win court case.
A video of the senator making the statement was shared on social media, causing widespread condemnation and calls for an investigation into the matter.
The statement made by Senator Bulkachuwa has been described as a monumental disgrace by Olisa Agbakoba, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association. The revelation has also led to concerns about the integrity of the Nigerian judiciary and the need for reforms to prevent such occurrences in the future.
In his reaction, Ogunlana wrote, “Zainab Bulkachukwa , did your distinguished husband LIE against you ?”, on his official facebook handle.
