Zamfara Gov charges residents to pray against lingering security challenges

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Sunday appealed to the residents of the State to continuously seek the face of God through fervent prayers against the lingering insecurity situation.

The governor spoke through his chief of staff, Hon. Mukhtar Lugga, during the opening ceremony of the state’s 27th Qur’anic recitation competition.

Lawal was reacting to the abduction of over 100 villagers by bandits in Mutunji and three other communities in Maru Local Government Area of the State on Friday.

According to him, the state government was aware of the mass abduction and the security challenges in the rural areas.

“The state government had recruited 4,200 Community Protection Guards, CPGs, to address the dastard acts in the State”, he added.

Recall that last Friday, a bandits’ kingpin, popularly known as Damina, attacked four villages under the Dansadau district and kidnapped over 100 residents.

The locals in the affected communities said their failure to pay harvesting levies to the bandits made them storm the four villages with motorcycles.
