Abducted EYN Pastors Regain Freedom After Week-Long Ordeal
The two pastors of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria, EYN), Rev. James Kwayang and Rev. Ishaku Chiwar, who were abducted last week, have been released and are now safe. The President of EYN, Dr. Daniel Mbaya, confirmed their freedom in a statement on Monday.
Mbaya expressed gratitude for the prayers and support offered by the church community and well-wishers during the pastors’ ordeal. In the statement, released by the church’s Media and Communication Officer, Mr. Mbursa Jinatu, Mbaya remarked, “As we celebrate the safe return of these two dedicated servants of God, we are reminded of the power of collective prayer and support.”
While the church has not confirmed whether a ransom was paid for their release, the pastors were abducted from their base in the Malabu area of the Fufore Local Government area in Adamawa State. As of Monday morning, the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police had not provided an official statement regarding the pastors’ release.
The church and its members are now rejoicing over the safe return of Rev. Kwayang and Rev. Chiwar, acknowledging the strength of communal prayer during difficult times.
