Accord Party appeals judgment of governorship tribunal in Rivers

The Accord Party in Rivers State has appealed the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, which validated the victory of Governor Siminialayi Fubara of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The three-man panel of the election tribunal had dismissed the petition of the Accord governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs for lacking in merit by not proving his claims of irregularities in the election.

But Lulu-Briggs, through his legal team, raised another 27 grounds of appeal and five reliefs sought which have been entered, recorded and transmitted.

Amongst the reliefs sought by the Accord and its governorship candidate are an order of the appeal to set aside the part of the judgment of the tribunal.

Chief Lulu-Briggs also wants the Appeal Court to void the election conducted on the 18th and 19th of March, 2023 and direct INEC to conduct supplementary election on the office of the governor of Rivers State.
