Benue: Gov Alia in closed-door meeting with Chief of Defence Staff

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State is currently in a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

The governor, who arrived at the Defence Headquarters at about 1:19 pm on Tuesday, was accompanied by government officials from the state.

It was gathered that the purpose of the meeting may not be unconnected to the security crisis bedeviling Benue State.

Benue State has over two million Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, living in different camps across the state following attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Also, a series of robbery attacks were recently recorded in the state, during which scores of unsuspecting citizens were murdered by gunmen.
