Bettagate: CCB Summons Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo Over N438m Contract

Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has summoned Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to answer questions regarding an alleged N438 million contract scandal.

Documents reveal the CCB is investigating Aregbesola for a potential breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

The case involves a company named New Planet Projects, reportedly linked to the Minister, which allegedly benefitted from a questionable contract deal with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.

In a January 16th invitation letter, signed by CCB Director of Investigations, Gwimi S.P., the Minister has been asked to appear at the Bureau’s Abuja headquarters for an interview.

The CCB stated that its investigation and Minister Aregbesola’s invitation are constitutionally backed by its mandate per the Third Schedule, Part 1, Paragraph 3(e) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Allegations indicate New Planet Projects, associated with Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, received preferential contract awards from the Humanitarian Ministry led by Betty Edu.

The Interior Minister is expected to respond to queries around ethics violations should he honor the anti-graft body’s summons on Tuesday morning.

There is no response yet from Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo regarding the CCB’s invitation and contract probe.
