BREAKING: Abuja High Court Restores Enenche Enenche’s Bail Over Alleged Defamation Of Dunamis Pastor, Paul Enenche
The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), presided over by Justice C. N. Oji, has restored the bail of Peter Enenche, popularly known as Enenche Enenche, who is facing allegations of defaming Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
The ruling followed an application filed by Enenche Enenche through his lawyer, Dr. S. M. Oyeghe, seeking the restoration of his bail or a fresh bail order.
This comes after the revocation of his bail by Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna of the FCT Magistrate Court, and following his compulsory retirement on July 1, 2025.
Enenche Enenche has been involved in a long-standing ideological dispute and a name-related conflict with Pastor Paul Enenche.
He, along with former Dunamis pastor Abraham Daniel, is currently standing trial at the FCT Magistrate Court over alleged defamation through social media posts.
Earlier, the case also included Alexander Enenche, a younger brother of Pastor Paul Enenche, and Reno Omokri. However, the charges against them were subsequently discontinued, leaving only Enenche Enenche and Abraham Daniel facing trial.
On Tuesday, Justice Oji adjourned the ruling on the bail application of Peter Enenche to Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Pastor Paul alleges that the duo, along with his younger brother, Alexander Enenche, and Reno Omokri, defamed him through social media posts.
On August 1, SaharaReporters reported that Enenche Enenche’s application to restore his bail had suffered another setback owing to the retirement of Magistrate Iyanna.
The case of Enenche Enenche has continued to raise concerns, especially on access to justice in Nigeria and the oppressive forces of the rich.
SaharaReporters had reported that Magistrate Iyanna had, in a previous ruling, refused to recuse himself from the matter, and insisted on proceeding with the case despite a trust deficit and manifest allegations of bias and compromise levelled against the same judex.
Hence, the magistrate’s haste in revoking the bail of Enenche was not surprising.
Recounting his ordeal recently, Enenche Enenche stated, “I am fine and in high spirits. I have spent 49 days in detention on a presumed civil case that was converted to criminal.
“I spent 17 days in prison before I was arraigned, nine days before I was granted bail, and have spent 23 days after the revocation of the bail.”
Enenche Enenche avowed that unless his matter was reassigned and bail granted to him, he was prepared to stay in prison till 2030.
“I am willing to stay here even till 2030, when the file will be reassigned and a motion for my bail is granted, as long as Dr Paul Adama and others will appear in court. I am willing to pay any price to see that happen so that next time he will stop bending and influencing systems,” he said.
He appealed to his supporters to ignore the lies that it was one Concerned Christian Youth Form led by Paul Adama that facilitated his incarceration.
He revealed that the said group was only registered on March 12, 2025, “more than one month after we came out of prison”.
“How can a group that was not registered take people to prison on a matter that happened before their existence?” he asked.
“Be strong, I am refined. I will never bend, never give in, I will never back down, and I will never surrender.”
