Corps member wanted over arms possession, money laundering
Police in Anambra have declared wanted a 26-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Emeh Daniel, for alleged unlawful possession of firearm, money laundering, defamation of character, fraud, and impersonation.
Spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement, said the suspect is attached to State Police Command.
Tochukwu urged the public to report to the nearest police station, should they sight Daniel.
He said, “Anambra State Police Command today 20/2/2023 wishes to declare Mr Emeh Nnamdi Daniel aged 26 years old wanted on the offence of unlawful possession of a firearm, money laundering, defamation of character, fraud, and impersonation.
“Mr Nnamdi Daniel is a youth corp member with State Code Number AN/22A/3323, attached to Anambra State Police Command and is positively identified, involve/mentioned in an ongoing investigation in the command.
“Therefore, the Command urges the general public to report to the nearest Police Station, if seen or call the Command Control Room number at 07039194332 or the PPRO at 08039334002 if you have any information that can aid in his location for arrest, please.
“Confidentiality is guaranteed.”
Contacted, State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Blessing Iruma said she would not comment on the matter until she was properly briefed.
“I should have been contacted before declaring him wanted. I await the letter,” she said.
Police in Lagos also arrested an 18-year-old man in the Ajegunle area of the state over alleged unlawful possession of firearms.
The command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Sunday on his verified Twitter handle.
He said that the suspect was intercepted by officers attached to Layeni Police Station on Sunday.
“A patrol team from Layeni division stopped this 18-year old man while riding on a motorcycle.
“He was searched and a locally-fabricated firearm and two stolen phones were found on him,” he said.
Similarly, Hundeyin said that the operatives attached to Orile Police Station in the Iganmu area of the state arrested a man over alleged possession of a locally- fabricated firearm and two live cartridges.
“While on night patrol, officers from Orile division stopped a 34-year-old man at School bus-stop.
“He was searched and found with a locally-fabricated firearm and two live cartridges,” he said.
