Edo: LP wins big in Obaseki’s LG, Senatorial district

Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has lost his ward, Local government and Senatorial district to Labour Party (LP) in the National Assemblies election held on February 25, 2023.

Obaseki who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had vowed to deliver the State for the PDP.

However, the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost by a wide margin to the Labour Party candidates.

In the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer Prof. A. Obasuyi, Mr. Neda Imasuen of LP emerged winner in Obaseki’s Edo South Senatorial district.

According to the returning officer, Imasuen emerged winner haven polled 167,250 votes to defeat the candidates of APC and PDP, who both scored 57,933 and 61,749 respectively.

The LP party candidate, Mr. Iyawe Eseosa, also won Oredo federal constituency seat.

The victory indicated that Eseosa will represent governor Obaseki at the House of Representatives.
