Ekweremadu’s daughter speaks after parent’s conviction

Sonia Ekweremadu, the daughter of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who is currently facing legal battle, has spoken about the sentencing of her parents, by the United Kingdom government.

Reacting, Sonia said she feels guilty about the conviction of her parents on conspiracy to harvest a human organ.

In an interview with BBC on Friday, she disagreed with the conviction of her parents.

She said: “I understand the conviction, however, I personally disagree with it. That is from a very biased perspective as their daughter, I will obviously always back my parents.

“However, the law has taken its course, we just need to move on as one family.”

Blueprint had reported that a court in the United Kingdom sentenced Ekweremadu, to nine years and eight months in prison for an organ trafficking.

The court also sentenced his wife, Beatrice, to four years six months while the medical doctor who acted as a ‘middleman’ in the plot, Dr. Obinna Obeta, was sentenced to 10 years and his medical license was also suspended.
