Gunmen Attack Kaduna Village on New Year’s Day, Destroy Homes and Loot Church

On New Year’s Day, unknown gunmen attacked Unguwar Rogo in the Ugom community of Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The assailants vandalized properties, stole farm products, and set fire to six homes. They also looted valuables from the ECWA Church and its pastorium before burning the church down.

In a statement, Ishaya Onussim, Chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union, revealed that the violence forced all residents to flee into nearby bushes, abandoning their belongings to escape the attack.

Onussim called for urgent government intervention, expressing dismay over the attack occurring so early in the year. He urged both state and federal authorities to ensure the security of the community. The Police Public Relations Officer for Kaduna Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, was unavailable for comment on the incident.
