Kaduna Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Assassination Attempt on Senator Usman Lawal

The Kaduna State Police Command has launched an investigation into the reported assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal, who represents the Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, by unknown assailants.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mansir Hassan, on Thursday explained that the command had not yet received a formal complaint from the senator. The investigation follows a Facebook post by Senator Lawal claiming that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unidentified individuals in Kaduna North on January 2, 2025.

The statement clarified that, apart from the senator’s social media post, no formal report had been filed with the police. Efforts to reach the senator for further details have reportedly been unsuccessful. In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
