Kano Government Invests N20 Billion in Major Road Rehabilitation Project
The Kano State government has launched a significant infrastructure development initiative, allocating over N20 billion to rehabilitate and upgrade key roads within the metropolitan local government areas. The aim is to improve road connectivity, ease traffic flow, and stimulate economic growth in the state.
Road Rehabilitations Across Key Routes to Improve Connectivity
Marwan Ahmad, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, announced the details of the projects on Wednesday. He revealed that the government is investing approximately N7.4 billion to reconstruct and upgrade a critical road corridor, covering Ashton Road to Airport Road, Club Road, and MM Way Roundabout.
In addition, N5.9 billion will be spent on rehabilitating and overlaying asphalt from Airport Gate to Triumph Roundabout, MM Way Flyover, and KSIP Roundabout. Over N2 billion is earmarked for the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Sabo Bakin Zuwo Road, while Muhammadu Buhari Road will receive a major upgrade at a cost of over N4.1 billion.
Future Projects to Further Enhance Kano’s Road Infrastructure
Ahmad also shared that five more large-scale road projects are currently in the planning stages, which will further boost the state’s road infrastructure and help reduce traffic congestion in the future.
