Nigeria at 65: Tinubu uprooted hindrances to progress – FG marshalls achievements
The Federal Government has declared that the country is on the right track under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the nation marks its 65 years of independence.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this in their remarks at a World Press Conference in Abuja on Monday.
Senator Akume said the country’s Independence Day is more a moment of reflection.
He noted that the journey of Nigeria since 1960 has been met with trials and triumphs, saying the Nigerian spirit has remained unbroken.
“It is important to remind ourselves that Independence Day is more than a ceremonial date but a day to reflect on how far we have come as a people.
“A journey from 1960 to this moment has been marked by trials and triumphs, moments of joy and pestilence, but the Nigerian spirit has remained high and unbrothered.
On his part, Minister Idris highlighted that the easing of the country’s inflationary pressures, which stood at 21.12 per cent, falling food prices, Naira stability and growing external reserves are testaments that the nation is on the right track.
The minister also listed improved oil production, increased revenue to states and other gains as “remarkable reforms taking place” under Tinubu’s government.
“In the last 65 years Nigeria has witnessed extraordinary economic and political growth,” he said.
He said that the president has uprooted hindrances to Nigeria’s progress.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying the building blocks for a national renewal anchored on prosperity, peace and unity,” he added.
He further urged Nigerians to continue to believe in the country and Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
