Nigerian Police To Arraign Abia Man For Refusing To Pray, Disrupting Church Service

The Nigeria Police Force, Abia State Command in the South-East region has arraigned a 55-year-old man identified as Sunday ThankGod, in court for refusing to pray in church.

According to the charge sheet obtained by Newsmen , ThankGod would be arraigned before a Magistrate Court of Abia State in the Aba South Magisterial District holding at Aba South.

In the charge No: MAS/COS/2c/2023, the defendant was accused of conducting himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by neglecting the opening prayer of the Bishop at the Apostolic Christian Church Mission (ACCM) at No. 34 Omuma Road, Aba.

The charge read, “That you, Sunday ThankGod, on the 16th day of April, 2023 at Apostolic Christian Church Mission (A.C.C.M) at No. 34 Omuma Road Aba, in the Aba
South Magisterial District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by neglecting the Opening Prayer of the Bishop and thereby caused public disturbance at the church and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap. 80 Vol 3 Laws of Abia State of Nigeria, 2005.”

The date for his trial has not been confirmed at the time of filing this report.
