NLC strike grounds academic activities at Sokoto varsity

The ongoing indefinite strike declared by the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress has paralysed academic activities at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto as the Academic Staff Union of the school joined the strike.

The Chairman of ASUU, Sokoto State University, Dr Sa’idu Isah, when contacted said the branch is currently holding a meeting on the next line of action.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Secretary of the NLC in Sokoto state, Hamisu Yanduna, confirmed that the monitoring team of the union embarked on an enforcement drive.

“We went around the town to note the level of enforcement, we were at the secretariat where we were able to enforce it while we locked some of the offices.

“We also went to some other Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as banks where we enforced the strike perfectly.

“I can tell you categorically that the level of enforcement of the strike is better than the first day (yesterday) and we hope it will continue like that until the strike is called off,” Yanduna said.
