Tinubu Traveled to Mecca with Only Northern Governors but Only Appointed Yorubas to Major Cabinet Positions – Atiku’s Aide
Phrank Shaibu, Special Assistant on Public Communications to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu over his Umrah trip to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, Shaibu said Tinubu went to Mecca with only Northern governors, with his cabinet full of Yorubas.
He accused President Tinubu of politicising a religious trip, stating it was hypocritical for him to travel to Umrah with only Northern governors.
“President Tinubu travelled with only Northern governors to Umrah, meanwhile his cabinet is fortified with Yoruba people. That is the height of hypocrisy,” Shaibu stated.
According to him, the President deliberately picked Northern governors to go with him to Mecca to score political points in the North.
He said Tinubu knows his government is being accused of Yorubanisation, so he wanted to use the Umrah trip to balance the narrative.
Shaibu alleged that if Tinubu truly believes in inclusion, his cabinet should not be dominated by people from his own ethnic group.
Atiku’s aide called on the President to stop playing politics with religion and focus on governance that unites all Nigerians.
