“Tragedy Strikes as Drunk Driver Crashes Into Soldiers During Morning Jog in Shomolu, Lagos”

Tragedy struck in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, early on Friday morning, as four soldiers attached to Myoung Barracks were feared dead after a suspected drunk driver rammed into them during their routine road jogging outside the barracks. Several other soldiers sustained serious injuries in the incident.

An eyewitness, Priscilla, who resides in the area,said that the vehicle, a Toyota, was occupied by three young men. She described how the driver, speeding through the area, struck the soldiers who were jogging in front of the barracks.

Following the crash, the young men attempted to flee the scene, but they were apprehended by the soldiers and local residents. The vehicle was subsequently vandalized, and one of the young men was reportedly stabbed during the altercation.

Priscilla, speaking to our correspondent, recounted the horrifying moments after the crash: “The soldiers were out for their monthly road walk when the vehicle came speeding and hit them. Four soldiers are dead, and many others were injured. After the crash, the boys tried to run, but they were caught and beaten badly. Their car was destroyed, and one of the boys was stabbed.”

The incident has caused widespread panic in the local community. However, as of the time of reporting, neither the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Olabisi Ayeni, nor the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, had responded to requests for comment.
