Why I Choose To Forgive My Husband’s Killer – Charlie Kirk’s Wife

Erika Kirk, the widow of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has publicly forgiven Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing her husband.

Charlie Kirk was shot dead on September 10, and Robinson has since been charged with first-degree aggravated murder.

Utah County Attorney General Jeff Gray announced that the state intends to pursue the death penalty against him.

At the memorial, Erika Kirk spoke about her grief and the painful moment she saw her husband’s body at the hospital.

She described the shock of losing him but also shared how she found comfort in her faith.

According to her, the tragedy did not shake her belief in showing love instead of hate.

She also explained that while many people asked her if she wanted Robinson to face the death penalty, she had chosen to leave that decision to the justice system.

She made it clear that she does not want revenge but prefers that the law take its course.

The widow, who is 36 years old, received a standing ovation during her speech, where she reflected on her husband’s life, their time together, and the pain of his sudden death.

She said that her forgiveness was rooted in her Christian faith and in the love she shared with her husband.

She said: “I forgive him because it was what Christ did. And it is what Charlie would do.

“I’ve had so many people ask, ‘Do you feel anger toward this man? Like, do you want to seek the death penalty?’ I’ll be honest. I told our lawyer, I want the government to decide this. I do not want that man’s blood on my ledger.

“I recall seeing his body in the hospital, describing shock, horror and a level of heartache that I didn’t even know existed. Even in that moment, I could see the man that I love, pointing to one, single gray hair on the side of his head and a faint smile on his face. That told me something important. It revealed to me a great mercy from God in this tragedy. When I saw that, it told me, Charlie didn’t suffer.”
