Operation Fansan Yamma Neutralizes Terrorists in Recent Series of Successful Operations
Operation Fansan Yamma troops have recorded significant victories in their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region, according to a statement from Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for the operation, issued on Monday.
Over the weekend, troops conducted a successful fighting patrol to Bamamu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area, where they engaged in direct combat. In another operation the same day, a strategic ambush at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, based on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities, led to the neutralization of several terrorists. Some of the attackers sustained fatal injuries.
The operation resulted in the recovery of significant weapons and ammunition, including one AK47 rifle, one G3 rifle, eight rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, three magazines, and three motorcycles.
On December 30, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma carried out airstrikes against terrorists converging in the Fakai and Kware areas of Shinkafi, acting on intelligence that a meeting of terrorist leaders, including notorious figure Bello Turji, was underway.
Following up on these successful airstrikes, the Air Component launched further operations on January 2, 2025, targeting Ibrahim Chumo’s camp in the Maikaman Rini area of Sububu Forest. These operations were supported by ground troops, and intelligence gathered suggested significant casualties among the terrorists, with several injured and numerous hideouts destroyed.
The operation continued its offensive against Bello Turji’s camp in the Chida area of Shinkafi on January 5, 2025, which led to further losses for the terrorist group. Aerial surveillance confirmed the terrorists suffered substantial casualties during these operations.
Operation Fansan Yamma reiterated its commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats across the Joint Task Force Theatre of Operation and assured the public of its ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. The operation also called for continued cooperation from local communities to aid in achieving its objectives.
